Overnight in Ljubljana

Welcome to your – The Balkans Road Trip

Our Day 1 starts in Ljubljana

Capital of Slovenia is well known for its famous cozy, laid-back atmosphere.

We will start guided tour in Prešeren Square, the lively heart of the city, and cross the iconic Triple Bridge into the charming Old Town.

We will stroll along the Ljubljanica River, admiring colorful Baroque and Art Nouveau buildings.

We will visit Ljubljana Castle for stunning panoramic views before heading down to explore the bustling Central Market.

In the afternoon, you will have a chance to enjoy a coffee on Ljubljana streets or relax in Tivoli Park, the city’s green oasis.

 

Overnight in Ljubljana

On our Day 2 we are doing morning transfer to Zagreb, which is only 1.5h away.

So shortly we will be in Croatia, Zagreb city and we are doing guided tour.

Zagreb city tour will start in Ban Jelačić Square, the heart of the city.

Then we will go up to the historic Upper Town to see St. Mark’s Church, with its iconic tiled roof, and enjoy the panoramic view from Lotrščak Tower.

Wander through the charming streets before heading down to Dolac Market, Zagreb’s lively open-air market.

We will also explore vibrant Tkalčićeva Street, lined with cozy cafés, bars, pubs and boutiques.

 

Overnight in Zagreb

Day 3 of our Balkan Road Trip starts in Zagreb, but then we are doing transfer to Croatia’s most famous national park – Plitvice Lakes 

Plitvice Lakes are on UNESCO heritage list and can be best described as breathtaking natural wonder known for its cascading waterfalls, crystal-clear lakes, and lush greenery, all connected by scenic wooden pathways. We will enjoy here for an hours and hours.

Must see while on Balkans. Definetely.

 

Transfer to Split

 

Overnight in Split

New day new destination.

Our Day 4 starts on Adriatic seacoast, can’t ask for more than that. Today in our plans we have wonderful city of Split

Split is vibrant heart of Dalmatian coast and city where ancient history meets modern Mediterranean life. At its core lies Diocletian’s Palace, a stunning Roman-era complex and one more UNESCO heritage site on this tour.

The city’s waterfront promenade, Riva, is perfect for soaking in the Adriatic views and enjoying morning coffee.

 

Overnight in Split

Day 5 starts in Split and then we are doing transfer to Dubrovnik

 

Dubrovnik – ”Pearl of the Adriatic” known for its well-preserved medieval architecture and striking views of the Adriatic Sea. We are starting our guided tour by visiting Old town, a UNESCO heritage site.

Walking along Stradun, the main street that stretches through the heart of the city and the city walls offers us panoramic view of the city and the sea.
Lovrijenac Fortress provides a dramatic backdrop, also famous for the TV series Game of
Thrones. You will definitely enjoy in a mix of history, stunning architecture, and the vibrant
atmosphere of this charming city.

 

Overnight in Dubrovnik

On Day 6 we are going to new country – Montenegro.

Morning transfer first to Kotor Bay and then to Kotor old town will be our drive for the day.

First after we cross the border between Croatia and Montenegro we are arriving to gorgeous Kotor Bay which is southernmost Fjord on earth. Kotor Bay features unreal beauty and many attractions to see. One of them is Perast where we are going next and it is one more UNESCO heritage site on this tour.

This historic town features beautiful stone palaces and baroque architecture. With its iconic nearby monastery and island Our Lady of the Rocks keeps lot of legends and mysteries to reveal on tour.

After all of that, we are heading to our final destination for today – Kotor old town.

Kotor is one more UNESCO heritage site on this tour, filled with medieval architecture, charming squares, and historic churches.

One of oldest cities in this part of the world is surrounded by mountains and city’s fortress, offering stunning panoramic views, reflects its rich maritime and cultural heritage. A blend of history, natural beauty, and vibrant atmosphere makes Kotor a must-visit destination on the Adriatic coast.

 

Overnight in Kotor

It’s time to say goodbye to beautiful Adriatic coast on Day 7 morning.

We are leaving Kotor and coast to visit new country and new attraction on this tour Mostar

On the way to Mostar we will have couple of interesting spots. One of them is Stolac, cute old town with fortress on hill and waterfalls on Bregava river. One more interesting thing in Stolac is famous necropolis dating back to medieval time.

Necropolis ‘Radimlja’ in Stolac features beautifully decorated thombstones carved from the 14th to 16th centuries, showcasing intricate motifs like knights, crosses, and geometric patterns. It’s a UNESCO heritage site.

Once we get close to Mostar, there is one more attraction Blagaj village and Buna river spring.

On the spring there is also famous Tekke or Dervish monastery.

After all of that we have to see famous Mostar, main attraction of the day.

Mostar if famous for lot of things, but most important one is famous 16th century Old Bridge and Crooked Bridge, rising high above astonishing Neretva river. If we are lucky, we can attend the bridge jumping competition that has been held here for years.

 

Overnight in Mostar

 

On Day 8 we are moving to the north to Sarajevo city.

After we arrive to Sarajevo, we are doing city tour.

One of our first stops on guided tour is Baščaršija – old town of Sarajevo and symbol of the city. This is the place you can enjoy best food and sweets, for which Sarajevo is widely known. When we step outside of Baščaršija, whole story just begins. Meeting of cultures is something that perfectly describes Sarajevo – meeting of East and West

The City Hall is a true example of how Oriental and European architectural styles blend, symbolizing both the city’s past and its present.

We will also visit some of landmarks like Eternal Flame monument, Old Orthodox Church, Yellow Fortress and of course Latin bridge, a place where Gavrilo Princip killed Austrian archduke Franz Ferdinand in 1914.

Transfer to Belgrade

Overnight in Belgrade

After getting enough sleep our Day 9 starts in new country and new city, the last one on this tour – Belgrade.

Probably, there is no better city to end this tour than Belgrade.

Belgrade is capital of whole EX-Yugoslavia region and one of most famous cities in this part of Europe.

 

This day will be fully dedicated to Belgrade, which has so many things to offer.

Most important city between Istanbul and Wien, where East meets West, Belgrade is a city of rich history, culture, and vibrant nightlife.

Overlooking the confluence of rivers Sava and Danube, it is home to landmarks like Kalemegdan FortressSaint Sava Temple, and Skadarlija bohemian quarter.

With a blend of Ottoman, Austro-Hungarian, and modern influences, Belgrade offers lively cafes, historic sites, and a unique charm that makes it one of the Balkans most exciting cities.

Perfect destination for last night on tour as well, because it offers various types of nightlife entertaiment like bars, clubs, restaurants with live music – the best for the end.

 

Overnight in Belgrade

On Day 10 last day of our Balkans Road Trip tour depending on your flight schedule you can choose to have free time before departure or you can choose to discover more of Belgrade.

More sightseeing option can include Zemun, beautiful and charming neighborhood of Belgrade, which used to be completely other town in the past.

Zemun features Austrian-Hungarian vibes and architecture. Zemun in the past used to be mostly part of Austrian-Hungarian empire while Belgrade was under Ottoman rule.

Also perfect place for au-revoir lunch.
