Overnight in Belgrade

As Day 1 on the tour, we will start our sightseeing in Serbia’s capital- Belgrade.

Belgrade as one of oldest European cities and real crossroads of East and West has many tales to be shared. It’s also ideal place to start your Balkans Road Trip because once upon a time Belgrade was most important point between East and West or Istanbul and Vienna.

A city with real mix of cultures, architectures was always known as white city! Maybe because of its position on confluence of two beautiful rivers, Danube and Sava, or because of white stone that he was made of.

Belgrade Fortress stands as the biggest attraction of the city, together with St. Sava temple will be point of interests for you during city tour of Belgrade.

After Belgrade, we are moving to the north, city of Novi Sad, also known as ‘’Serbian Athens.’’ It is known for its vibrant culture, charming mix of old and modern and huge influence of Austrians- you can notice that everywhere around you.

We will walk along unskippable Dunavska Street, straight to Freedom Square, lively spot surrounded by historical buildings and cafes.

For end of the day, we will visit Petrovaradin Fortress, one of the most iconic landmarks in Novi Sad.

 

Transfer back to Belgrade.

 

 

Overnight in Belgrade

On Day 2, we will depart from Belgrade towards Western Serbia, where you will have a chance to enjoy in gorgeous nature!

Mountains, viewpoints and unique wooden houses is something that can describe best Western Serbia.

Tara mountain national park will take your breath away and here you will make some of most scenic photos on this tour.

Shargan Eight railorad journey with scenic narrow-gauge train will deliver you vibes of 19th century while enjoying landscapes of beautiful surrounding mountains.

Wooden town a fairy-tale village was initially built for a movie Life is a Miracle, by Emir Kusturica, famous Serbian movie director. After the movie was shot, the village remained here. It is now popular tourist destination.

 

 

Overnight in Mokra Gora

On Day 3, the road will lead us to Sarajevo.

But on our way, we have one more attraction to see. In Visegrad town there is famous old bridge from 16th century built by Mehmed Pasha Sokolovic. Very nice start of the day!

City tour of Sarajevo should take about 2 hours.

Visiting some of attractions like Sarajevo city hall built in 1895. by Austrian-Hungarians is must and will be great chance to see amazing mix of cultures in this city.

Why? Because for almost 5 centuries, Sarajevo was occupied by Ottomans, significant Ottoman architecture is present in old part of town – Bascarsija even nowadays, then suddenly turns into Austrian-Hungarian style. In Sarajevo you would be able to experience all of 3 religions and hear some of very intriguing stories.

Eternal flame monument will just fullfill your experience here and create a beggining of storyline called – Yugoslavia!

 

 

Overnight in Sarajevo

After Sarajevo, we will start 2 hours long road trip to the next gem – Mostar.

Scenic drive through high mountains, canyons and valley of Neretva river will be real adventure for itself.

We arrived in Mostar, one of the most charming places in Bosnia, with Ottoman architecture and Mediterranean climate, this town is a storyteller for itself.

Famous 16th century Old Bridge and Crooked Bridge, rising high above astonishing Neretva river are definitely the biggest attraction. If we are lucky, we can attend the bridge jumping competition that has been held here for years.

After Mostar sightseeing, we are moving a bit on the south. On Buna river spring, there is village Blagaj, which hides wonderful treasure. Medieval Tekke or Dervish monastery, founded in 16th century. Definitely place that we can’t skip.
and perfect place to relax and cool down during warm days.

Then we will make a stop in Stolac, charming old town with amazing Buna river waterfalls and Radimlja Necropolis -medieval tobstones, one of the most important historical artifacts in the region, protected by UNESCO.

Then, we are going to our next destination- Dubrovnik.

 

Overnight in Dubrovnik

We are starting our Day 5 in Dubrovnik.

This ”Pearl of Adriatic” is UNESCO heritage site and one of the most popular cities in the Balkans, known for its rich history and as a filming location for famous TV shows. If you’re a Game of Thrones fan, you’ll recognize some of the spots!

Walking trough Stradun, main street of city, we are going back to Venetian period. City Walls offers us panoramic view of the city and the sea and Lovrijenac Fortress provides a dramatic backdrop on this charming place! We will enjoy amazing architecture and history of Dubrovnik and try to feel that typical easy-going lifestyle that locals have here.

 

After our city tour, we are taking 2 hours drive to Kotor.

 

 

Overnight in Kotor

Day 6 we are starting in stunning Kotor old town, one more UNESCO heritage site on this tour, filled with medieval architecture, charming squares, and historic churches.

One of oldest cities in this part of the world is surrounded by mountains and city’s fortress, offering stunning panoramic views, reflects its rich maritime and cultural heritage. A blend of history, natural beauty, and vibrant atmosphere makes Kotor a must-visit destination on the Adriatic coast.

During scenic ride through to the bay, we will make few stops and one of them will be in Perast, old town in the bay with nearby famous island and church Our Lady of the rocks.

After Kotor, we are moving to Budva most popular summer resort in Montenegro, with well-known nightlife. Perfect place to spend last evening in Montenegro.

Budva is so called Montenegrin Monte-Carlo with also nice and charming old town which will be discovered on guided tour.

 

 

Overnight in Budva

On Day 7, our road leads us to Tirana.

Before we arrive in Tirana, we will visit one cute town Kruje, birth place of national hero Skenderbeg and historic town famous for its medieval castle, the Skanderbeg Museum, and its charming Ottoman-style bazaar.

It was the stronghold of Skanderbeg, who led resistance against the Ottomans. The town offers stunning mountain views.

Tirana city tour starts at Skenderbeg Square – The heart of the city. It’s surrounded by important landmarks and is a great starting point for exploring the city.

We will see numerous important buildings from 18th and 19th century like Et’hem Bey Mosque and Clock Tower which offers a great panoramic view of the city.

In city you can see presence of 3 religions. Beside mentioned mosque we will also see St. Paul Catholic Cathedral and Resurrection of Christ Orthodox Cathedral one of the largest Orthodox cathedrals in the Balkans.

Overnight in Tirana

Day 8 we are starting our road trip from Tirana to Ohrid. 

After we cross Albanian – Macedonian border, first attraction of our day will be St. Naum monastery, beautiful Orthodox monastery on the shores of Lake Ohrid. Founded in the 10th century by Saint Naum, a disciple of Saints Cyril and Methodius, it is known for its stunning frescoes, breathtaking lake views, resident peacocks and the natural springs that feed into the lake.

And then, another UNESCO heritage site – Ohrid, picturesque old town, known for its rich history and well-preserved medieval architecture. Features ancient churches, a historic fortress, and one of Europe’s oldest lakes, making it a cultural and natural gem of the Balkans. During guided tour you will learn everything about it!

 

 

Overnight in Ohrid

 

It’s Day 9 of our tour, we are heading to Macedonia’s capital city – Skopje.

On the way to Skopje you will have a chance to witness views on one of wildest and tallest Balkans mountains – Shara Mountain.

After road trip, we will do city tour of Skopje, city of contrasts, blending historic landmarks with modern architecture.

Known for its massive statues, the iconic Stone Bridge, and the Old Bazaar, it offers a mix of Ottoman, Byzantine, and contemporary influences. The city is also famous as the birthplace of Mother Teresa and for its vibrant cultural scene.

 

 

Overnight in Skopje

In the morning of Day 10, we are starting our way to Prizren, which is located in Kosovo region, south province of Serbia.

Prizren is a historic city known for its well-preserved Ottoman and Orthodox architecture, beautiful mosques, churches and the iconic Stone Bridge. Medieval fortress offers stunning views, a lively cultural scene, and a mix of Serbian, Turkish, and Albanian influences.

On our tour we will visit old town of Prizren, Sinan Pasha mosque, one more UNESCO heritage site – Our Lady of Ljevish church and Kalaja Fortress, followed with some nice lunch, it will be enjoyable.

After Prizren, we are visiting one more UNESCO heritage site – Gracanica monastery nearby Pristina, dating back to early 14th century, it is a masterpiece of medieval Serbian architecture, known for its intricate original frescoes and five-domed structure.

 

Transfer back to Skopje.

 

 

Overnight in Skopje

Last day of the tour – Day 11.

 

Depending on your flight departure, it’s possible to have a free time or even to do more sightseeing in Skopje.
